Full House Build - New Haven, VT
This home is set up for maximum solar gain with solar panels on the roof. The home was intentionally oriented to maximize sun exposure and solar benefit. We used materials harvested from the property, including wood and metal repurposed from an old barn. The home itself is built upon an old farm foundation, and we utilized old farm implements for finish details like coat hooks for a unique, vintage feel.
We finished the basement apartment first, and the owners were able to live there while we completed the rest of the home. The entire project was completed over two years.
Design elements like the interior chimney and tile were used to maximize heat retention from the efficient Hearthstone wood stove.
The exterior is finished with HardiePlank lap siding, a durable composite fiber-cement siding material that holds paint very well, resists rot, and lasts a long time.
